Review a Restaurant in Sandton

Can you trust the reviews that you read on line about products and services? I recently wanted to check out a new restaurant in sandton and when I looked up directions on the Internet it came with a review guide. Supposedly the reviews were written by people who had been there but I am wondering if those reviews can be trusted. How easy would it be for the owner or someone who has a vested interest in the business write the review? I just want to know how honest these are and if I wanted to write a review after I go if I can add my opinion.
